BERNARD DEVERIN

Bernard spent several decades working as a derivatives trader at several Wall Street firms. He was a Managing Director at Bear, Stearns & Co. and Merrill Lynch as well as management background with the world’s largest oil broker PVM Oil Associates, and international experience as Vice President of Gulf Caribbean Petroleum Corp.

He also spent time as a natural gas trader at Consolidated Natural Gas (CNG) in Pittsburgh.Before retiring to New York City in 2024, Bernard and his wife lived in Westport, Connecticut for thirty years. For the past twenty years Mr. Deverin owned Westport Builder Group, a premier Design-Build company. Being civic minded, Bernard ran for public office in Westport, serving two four-year terms on the Westport Zoning Board of Appeals.

Mr. Deverin has been working on the Board of The Gift of Adoption Fund since 2023. It is a national 501c providing funding and guidance for family adoptions throughout the country. He has also recently joinedthe 79th Street Block Association to serve his local community here.

Bernard and his wife Midge have been married for twenty years. They have a blended family of four wonderful kids, Margaux, James, Walter, and Grace. Music and music education runs in the family. Bernard is a trained pianist and has been playing for over sixty-five years. He also taught as a music teacher in his spare time. Three of their children are also talented musicians. Their oldest, Walter is the leader of the Indie Band “The Walters”, with Warner Records, and tour globally. Mr. Deverin is extremely excited to join the Theater Within and hopes to made a meaningful contribution to the organization.
